The UN Day Committee

The UN Day Committee is comprised of the Grade 5 parent body, together with Grade 5 students and teachers.

Main objective

To organise and run the UN Day activities.

Teacher responsibilities
Organise presentation(s), performance(s) or exhibitions in their classroom - this could be songs form home countries, poetry in different languages, dances, artwork presented by the students and so on. This is to be displayed/performed in the classroom at staggered times, where parents can then walk around to see/hear/interact.

Parent responsibilities
Organise food from all grades to be shared on the day - focus on national dishes listing ingredients and country of origin. Food will probably be arranged and displayed in the PYP library area and classess invited out in rotation to eat. 
Organise guest speakers for all grades. Target: 2 guest speakers per grade, using the parents group (parents/grandparents/great-grandparents), to come in to talk about their experience with primary education growing up. 
Organise flags to be displayed in the school
Parent performance - to be considered on the day

Time: To be confirmed, but all day for the students with the parents invited into school from 11:00-13:00 

Standalone or integrated: Teachers can evaluate whether/how to integrate this into their unit or process it as a stand-alone
