Halloween Supervision guidelines - parents

Responsibilities for Halloween Party

  1. Ensure students do not leave school area.
  2. Ensure all students are respecting each other
  3. Ensure students are behaving themselves at school. We recognise that this is a party atmosphere and as such it will be noisy. However for safety reasons running/jumping/pushing should be avoided as it can lead to injury/conflict.
  4. At the end, students are not allowed to say 'my parents are outside, Im just leaving.' The parents need to be seen.
  5. Having fun should not mean being disrespectful/destructive/inconsiderate. I cant see any reason why we cannot always reinforce positivity and politeness.
  6. If some needs to 'chill out' – then grade 5 can be used as a designated room for kids getting a bit too footloose and care-free.

Start-up
Food set-up. All parents involved can take part in food set-up. Once food set-up is complete, it doesn’t require more than 2 to supervise at any given time. This could be done in rotation.

Main library
The bulk of the activity will take place in the main library area. This is where the majority of the supervision is required.

Toilet spot checks
Toilet areas should be checked at intervals to ensure kids are not gathering/messing/acting inappropriately.

Clean-up
All should be involved in general clean-up. Displays and wall hangings can remain on the walls until tomorrow as it is still Halloween.

Bins and Rubbish Sorting
Rubbish must be sorted properly into labeled bins - paper, plastic, food, other. Bins are to be emptied and brought out to the containers at the end of the event. Note - may need a key to access the rubbish containers
